St Michael’s provides an efficient and effective school canteen to meet the needs of the school community. Open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for lunch, the canteen provides a selection of fresh and healthy food choices at an affordable price. Prices are kept to the bare minimum as the canteen is viewed as a service and does not make a profit. Volunteers assist in the coordination of the canteen.

The canteen follows the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy. This government initiative labels three groups of foods:

  • Red – Occasional. Do not serve these foods more than twice each term.
  • Amber – Select Carefully. These foods are not to dominate the menu.
  • Green – Fill the menu with these foods.

The canteen coordinator sets the menu according to these guidelines.
